Default A8 transmission Interchange

Will a 97 A8(DPZ) transmission work in a 98 A8 with a (DTE). Long story short. Have a good 97 A8 transmission, code(DPZ). My 98 A8 needs a transmission and it's code is (DTE). Can I put the DPZ transmission in my 98 A8 that originally had a DTE? Thanks for your help.

Default What are the reasons for no?

There is no difference in TCM, wiring, etc. It will work.

What was the code of the 97 that you put in your wifes car?

Car-part.com doesn't show that the DPZ and DTE interchange. I just want to make sure before I do it. I called ZF and they also said it won't work.

The original 97' that was in the car is on the bench right now, I forgot the code. The 98' in the car works perfect, I haven't even looked at the code. They all interchangeable. I did this numerous times. The post facelift has a shorter final drive ratio, but it is hardly noticeable. You can use any 5HP24A tranny in your car CUE, DPZ, DSL, DSM, DTD, DTE, ELZ, EDG, FBE, FBF, FUM, FUN, GLA except the S8 tranny DYM, ECX, ECY, FBG.

Has anyone replaced a DTE with a DPZ?
