All Done with the RNS-D Install, Keith is on his way
I figured out why the XM wasn't working, the plug for the TV tuner came out of the back of the RNS-D during the install. Everything's working now.....
I have to say, the Motorola Bluetooth system is soooo nice. If you want one, it's a very nice set up. It was the $150 unit that has incoming caller ID via a lady's voice, an upgrade from the $80 one.
And once it's installed correctly, it is very loud over the B pillar speaker.
I took a 2x4, cut it down, and cut a bevel on it....then covered it with Alcantara that I had left over, it just slips in where the old nav controls went, Keith has the old nav control switch, which he can put in if he needs to reset something, just pull this thing out...

All the components are mounted, and this shows how you cut a hole behind the Phatbox to run the cable into, but really so you can install the outside cover on with the Phatbox cartridge in place. You drill new holes on the Phatbox and mount it further back in the bracket.

When you DO NOT have an active route, you can choose compass and map mode.....the DIS shows you direction and street that you are on:

And you can toggle the Nav Plus from compass to map:

And then to get the XM on, you toggle from radio to CD to TV, then you press the right hand button and it brings this menu up, and you can choose from TV, AV1 or AV2, I have the AV2 hooked up to the XM, line level input.
The XM tuner is a commander unit in the ash tray.

No antennas hooked up, it is just used for aux inputs
You could put two auxiliary inputs (either video and audio or just audio). You would need to get the antennas and put them in as well.

If you want to read more about it, go to the "B" version info

Most Excellent....
Many Many Many thanks to Paul for arranging all this together and doing an amazing job on the install, in addition to shuttling me to/from hotel so I didn't have to lug my crap on the Blue Line...
These parts would have Rosatto'd in my garage for years if it wasn't for Paul's expertise. Then again, I wouldn't have bought any of it, if I wouldn't have gotten Paul to quote a "parts plus installation" price on everything!
All together now, more new toys than time to play with them, but hopefully that will change by Dec, stay tuned. (tomorrow is a big day!)
Thanks also to:
Gabor / Tozo for his assistance in the project (I owe ya some beers!)
Ted for an amazing wiring harness
Ken for the Phatbox mod & RNS-D mod disc.
OK gotta get back to studying now, more later.

Hi Has anyone had an issue with the rns-e install in an A3, where the DIS doesn't always display the temp fuel consumption etc it seems to always display nav detals like street name etc. not sure how to select different modes.
Thanks in advance
