Default Another issue with my audi s8

Couple of months ago I began to hear when going uphill a ticking noise (only when the engine is warm) coming from under the car behind the engine driver side .the ticking noise is very clear when on D on N or P The noise is there but partially not too loud . when on flat surface or going down hill the thinking noise disappear . does anyone experienced something similar to my issue ?

I would look for an exhaust leak close to the motor ... maybe where the exhaust manifold connects to the down tube. Leaks this close to the motor always sound more like a "tick" than exhaust sound (personal experience) ... and louder under load.

I will check for that as my friend (mechanic) said its probably from the Catalyst converter . but I will check again for any leaks from the exhaust but my problem is how am i going to park it on un uphill and check under the car (LOL) ?anyway I will figure it out .

Look for black exhaust trails near all connections ... especially where manifold connects to down pipe. A powdery black trail is a leak.

You can easily check the catalytic converters when they are cold ... hit the bottom of each with something soft (your fist), listen for rattles.

If the "ticking" is rhythmic (matching motor rpms), it is not a cat.
