Nice mileage! But, $17k?!!
It seems a year or two ago, low mileage S8s could fetch near $15k. Seems to be so many $5k-10k ones for sale now, but most nearer 200k miles. Mileage is always a factor when I buy a car. A 200k car vs. a 70k car means that everything was used 3x as much.
Curious to see if/how much it sells for.

It states it was well taken care of but it's missing both fog light grills, missing/damaged belly shield and missing S8 grill badge. Just those items alone will cost you $850+ to replace. My question is, if it was well taken care of by the previous owner, those items would have been address right away, right? They say $8,000 worth of work was recently done but what was done? Carfax reveals nothing specific.
Interior: Two things I noticed: Alcantara on the driver's side (picture 11) looks worn out and there is a stain on the front passenger's seat (picture 27). Over all interior looks very clean for a 15 year old car.
This car was for sale about 4 months ago. There is probably a reason (priced to high) why it's back up for sale.
$17,000 is a crazy asking price! In 2013, I paid $13,000 for my 2001 S8 with 89,XXX miles.
The 2003 S8 on ebay looks more appealing to me, but that one is also priced to high. The 2003 has been for sale for quite some time, as well.
Good luck.

Or you could step up to a D3 A8 which has a much better transmission and better interior. Also more HP and faster.

Look around for others if that one turns out to be a lemon. My point is that there are lot's of D3's out there for good prices. I paid $8700 for my 2005. Also the op should decide if they want horsepower or luxury. Even my '05 is a pretty powerful car. And the luxury is more than I ever could have hoped for in a sub $10k car. Couple more years and the D4 4.0t will be in the high $20k to low $30k range. When that happens I'll have one. The D4 4.0t to me is the best of all worlds. Extreme luxury and comfort paired with an extremely powerful engine. The MPG isn't too bad either. But back on topic. The car below isn't super low mileage and it does show 1 rear impact accident. But the price is right and the 5.2 V-10 is a great motor.
