Default Audi A8 transmission problem

Just bought a high milage 1999 a8 Quattro, a mint example minus an oil leak....... and the abs ligh........and the airbag light that just appeared.

And now this this morning i noticed when i put it in reverse it didnt have that pull so when you release the brakes it moves but that went away immediately. And i just got home after a 45 min round trip and it just clunks at a stop light and all the gears light up and it feels like its in a higher gear(limp mode??). And a check engine light appears.
If i turn the car off it will work until i give it some gas and clunk same thing. Tell me its a $20 dollar fix and its will resolve my othe rissues too.

But in all seriousness any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a VCDS scan to define the issues a bit more.

ABS issue could be a sensor, but the early Bosch 6.3 modules had a reputation for failure (cheapish repair at one of many electronic repair shops (BBA Reman or check ebay "Bosch 6.3 repair")).

Airbag light could be the coil spring on the steering wheel, but again a scan is in order to know more.

The transmission could simply be low oil, or it could be a fault with the valve body (common with this transmission).
If it is the valve body, an early diagnosis could prevent further transmission damage.
Again, scan it or take it to a ZF specialist (Tozo's shop (TozoM8) if you're anywhere near him (Chicago?)).

The codes the transmission can throw range from P0700/17084 to P0790/17174.
P0700 to P0708 can indicate a selector switch (F125) fault. P0730 or higher can indicate other hydraulic or actuator faults.

The valve body is the primary manifold in the transmission which selects the fluid pathways to choose the right gear. My understanding is the manifold can crack.
In this circumstance, if you're lucky the valve body can be replaced. However, oil starvation can cause seal damage elsewhere in the transmission which will then require a rebuild. Either way you'll need to break out the cheque book!

But you need to take it somewhere that can properly diagnose it.

Default If the reverse is fine then you need a rebuild.

It is a bummer, but the couch A is gone.
