Basic reset for transmission

Basic reset for transmission
My 97 A8 transmission always hunted for the right gear. Brought to Audi Certified Mechanic I know and he showed me how to reset the transmission computer NOT using VAG-COM.
Turn the car on(don't start the eingine), depress accelerator pedal slowly until it is floored. Slowly lift the pedal.
This was potentiometer is reseting the full thorottle position and resets the transmission computer. Try this if your transmission is hunting for the right gear. It has resetted and my tranny is learning the way I drive.

I tried it. OK, this may be my wishful thinking, but...
...since I did this the car has actually lost the annoying "lag" that I had when setting off from a stand.
To clarify: this is an S8 -- I never had the "searching for a gear problem" However, the issue I had was with a "gap" on the top of the travel of the gas pedal, ie, how quickly the car would launch from a stop when the revs were below 1000 or so. Once I did the "reset", the car now just kicks off with a verve even with a light touch of the gas pedal! It's night and day. Again, I may be just day-dreaming here, but it happened right after trying the "reset" above. Who knows, maybe it DOES have something to do with resetting the DSP settings and dropping "bad habits" learned... :-)
