Chrome molding restoration. Using steel wool 0000 doesn't work. Advice?
I heard steel wool grade 0000 can be used to restore the chrome molding on cars so I tried it and it didn't work.
What can I do to restore the shine on my moldings?

since you removed the top layer now you probably need some type of special compound to make it look good.
I would be curious to know how much would it cost to replace all chrome moldings with new parts.

It's anodized aluminum. There isnt much you can do while its on the car. You will need chemicals to remove the oxidation, then polish the raw aluminum.
To clean up the mess you made, buy some 1200 grit and 2000 grit sandpaper. Wet sand with 1200, then wet sand with 2000.

The 'mess' you see is already like that from the start.
i was showing that my attempt didn't do anything.
should i still proceed with your sand paper method?

Just did mine on my s8, used zymol hd cleanse and my da buffer, went from hazy blueish color to silver again..
Did the same on my a8 7 years ago and still looks good.
It's the automatic car wash chemicals that cause the hazing/discoloring...
Hand washes only for the past 7 years and the molding still is silver.
