Driver's window won't go up

Driver's window won't go up
This afternoon, I rolled down my window and heard a light "thunk." Once I got to my destination, my window would not go up. If I play with it for a bit, it attempts to go up--with some light scratching noise--and then either stops, or goes back down. I was able to get it up just enough to grab and pull up some, then advance the motor, pull again...rinse/repeat until window was pretty much closed.
Anyone encountered this before and have an idea of what the issue is and how to fix it?
