Default Help! Electrical problem....I think

Went away for the weekend and when I came back, the D2 won't start. Starter cranks and engine turns over, but it dies immediately. Aside from that, the only other anomaly is that when the key is in the "on" position, only the battery light is on in the dash. None of the gauges are working, i.e., fuel gauge doesn't move. Any ideas?

What do you mean exactly by "dies immediately"?

Default Meaning that as soon as the key is turned back to run...

the engine dies. I think the tow operator stepped on the accelerator and it revved a bit and spit out some smoke, but died as soon as he took his foot off the accelerator. I didn't try it myself.

That sounds like classic immobiliser to me.

Coupled with the rest, I would be looking for a dash fuse.
Looking for a fuse box diagram online but had no luck so far!
Can't get to my service wallet just now either!

Default Problem Solved!

It was the connections at the back of the IC. Just removed, cleaned and replaced and voila...problem solved. Thanks to everyone who responded.
