Hi all,
I am brand new to this forum. I just got myself an Audi S8. Originally this was an A8 V8 (1997), but it is completely rebuilt to 2003 spec S8 including brakes, suspension, interior etc (with the R8 V8 engine, 450 hp :-) )
It has the audi Symphony double din on board (I can see that it is built in later, probably with the rebuilt to S8), but I regard this as a bit outdated.
So I got myself the Pioneer AVIC-F950 double din unit. I already have succeeded to integrate this with the steering control and connected it to the OEM Bose amplifier :-). But I have 1 problem: I get no FM antenna signal. I have the feeling that I missed some kind of connection. Did anyone have this experience?
Best regards, John from the Netherlands

It is now dark here so these pics will follow later. The engine looks pretty much the same as the 40v V8. But underneath there are 'changes'. The Audi dealer confirmed that the motor management is changed as well and that this is done in such a way that the dealer is not able to do this (so pretty hard coded by professionals).
On the back there now is shown 1.9 TDi :-) (pic will follow). On a straight line my S8 is a 'bit' faster (although it does not yet feel very fast because of the weight and the automatic transmission, which is a bit slow. My 2 Porsches feel faster (and probably are in acceleration and definitely are in curves).
Some pics when I bought it (rims are now replaced with 18'alloys with winter tyres).

Yes, my matching woodgrain that goes where yours is black. I had it customs made.
the color, if you have anything made, is Acura burlwood.
as for the radio, antenna works great. Just picked up an antenna conversion kit. But you need to get the one with the remote amp wire. If you do t have this, the antenna will not know to power on.
I tried connecting my metra wire to every stinking wire in the harness and could not get steering wheel to work. Would really like to know more of how you did that if you wouldn't mind sharing

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I am really interested. Do you have some more details what you did, make, type etc?

Here some pictures of how my Pioneer AVIC-F950 double din unit is integrated with the Audi electronics including the working steering wheel interface.
The integration with the steering wheel is done via the Pioneer interface, available under numer CA-R-PI.011 (version without canbus; version with Canbus did not work in mine and the alarm and remote control for the doors and alarm did not work with the Canbus version either). This one is especially made for this type of Pioneer double din navi.
From the F950 I connected the two 8 pins connectors as can be seen in the pictures. From the Audi connectors I connected the brown and black 8 pins female connectors to the CA-R-PI.011. I did not click any connector in the black Metra (20 pins) connector. However I connected the wire of connector 11 from the Metra connector CA-R-PI.011 with that of the red Metra connector.
This red Metra connector I used for integration with the Bose amplifier. This connector is from an Audi A6 (2002 model). Between this Metra connector and the Pioneer F950 I applied two filters for decoupling (Calibur). These are the two black boxes with RCA connectors.
So everything works except for the FM signal I hope to solve this issue via this forum, so that I can apply the standard Audi FM amplifiers (I believe far better than an aftermarket window antenna)
