3rd gear hesitation...
Gents,
Wanted to see if any of u ever had a slight hesitation when your D2 shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear? Seems like as soon as it does 2nd to 3rd shift, its fine and then a second later, there is a slight rpm drop; around 250 rpms.
This is the only time it does it. No codes via vag-com. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hey CME's01S8,
I would try a transmission service (new filter and fluid change) and see if that cures your shifting issue.
I had a vibration/thunk when my D2 shifted from third gear to forth gear. It only happened on the first shift from third to forth. After the first pass from third to forth; all seemed normal. Two weeks ago I did a transmission service (Audi filter and Audi ATF) and all seems well.
I highly recommend using only Audi ATF. If you buy ATF retail, Audi's ATF is a little more expensive than other brands of ATF, but I figure it is not worth the $4,000 gamble to save a few dollars on ATF. My shop buys Audi ATF in bulk and it only cost me $9.50 a liter. : )
BTW: I have put on about 200 miles since the transmission service for reference.
Hope this helps.

Prior to me buying the car, service records indicate transmission service (fluid change and filter)@ 136,000 miles.
It doesn't seem like a tranny hesitation. Seems more like motor. Didn't know if anyone had issues like this. Know the drive by wire systems can be temperamental... Regardless of car make.

Yes, mine does that. It actually feels like the change from 2nd to 3rd is two seperate "half" changes, and i have done a fluid and filter change. No codes present. Strange thing is, it doesn't happen in tiptronic. Weird but have gotten used to it.
