Default Need correct arms!

I have a 1997 s8 d2 and have recently upgraded the brakes and hubs which i pulled of 2000 s8 d2.

Its all rinning fine but i put all new control arms and when i went to fit the front lower rear arms the ball joint taper is to small for the taperes hole in the hub.

Ive looked everywhere and been to audi and rung places and no1 can help me.

Apparently there are 3 different types or arms.

I need to find arms with biger tapers on the ball joint if any1 can help with a part number or where to find them id appriciate it alot.

Ive attached some picture of the arms i have at the moment as u can see the fit and locate into my old hubs but when put into the new hub it just go straight through it untill it hots the ball joint.

And i have checked i have the pressed collars still in the hub.

Thanks in advance.

The part changed when the FL model came out. Below is the part that fits the 2000-2003 S8.

8E0407693AG - https://www.fcpeuro.com/Audi-parts/S...ds=8E0407693AG

8E0407694AG - https://www.fcpeuro.com/Audi-parts/S...ds=8E0407694AG

Good luck.

I can't help you with specifics, but there are two part numbers for the rear arm listed in ETKA (etka.me) for a 1997 S8/A8Q:

8E0407694Q (rhs)/8E0407693Q (lhs) - these look to be a B6 number to me... curious. Must be replacement/updated part numbers.

4D0407694N (rhs)/4D0407693N (lhs)

I also looked up a 2003 (D2) to check part numbers for changes:

4D0407694N/4D0407693N carry over

Two new part numbers not listed for a '97:
8E0407694K/8E0407693K

Don't know if this info is useful or not!

So i just rang my friend at euro and gave him the 2 part numbers.

8E0407693Q (lhs)
4D0407693N (lhs)

And they both come back to thete product code.

616440425 which is the arms i already have and that dont fit .

Any more ideas?

Interesting. Below is a Meyle HD complete lower control arm set with those numbers.

Good luck.

Are you sure that the hole is tapered? It should have a sleeve.

I was reading something over on a8parts yesterday about the larger sized tapers.
The guys there were saying the steel uprights in the PF cars had larger tapers than the Alloy uprights that were in FL's and S8's. It was in reference to the straight arm.

They even had a link to a Meyle arm with a different part number (by 1 digit). The two factory numbers only had different suffix letters.

Regular aftermarket doesn't seem to support this as there isn't a 'PF' and 'FL' or 'Steel' and 'Alloy' arm kit about the place...

They also reckoned the curved arm is different for cars with factory 20" wheel option. Not sure I buy that...
