Wow ... just what I was referring to. That pump/valve unit has nothing whatever to do with engine cooling ... it's just an extra climate control accessory. The pump is only needed to use the "restore" feature (engine off/passengers in the car)...the valves help regulate flow to 2 heater cores for more efficient response for the dual climate zone.
