Default rns-e retro fit

hi guys
ive recently just brought myself a 2002 s8 and i have to say what a fantastic car! this week i have retro fitted a a4 rns-e to it following a thread on here, it all seems to be working as it should apart from it stays on when the ignition is turned off and there is no button illumination both are which i have read linked to coding the unit, today i have hooked vag-com up to it but are getting the same error on both module 37 and 56 saying that there is no connection, i have tryed connecting to other modules within the car and they all seem to work so now i,m stummped! any ideas please

You need a K line for OBD II communication and the CAN high CAN low wires for illumination and ign on/off. The instrument cluster has to communicate with the radio.

so how do i do that? i've changed the instument panel channel 62 to 3 as i've read on here but now i,m stumped! are you talking about the vag com cable? the one i have says hex+can on it

The K line goes from the OBD II port to the radio so you can connect to the radio with vag-com.

thanks for that, i have already read that and thought because mines a 2002 that none of that was nessesary? so you are saying is?

You need to check the wiring. pin 3 on your wire goes to 5 on rns-e. Pin 7-12 on your wire goes to 9-10. <img src="http://audipages.com/tozo/symiitornschart.jpg">

all sorted! bypassed the tmc unit, and connected the can high and can low wires to the rns-e terminals 9 and 10 and it now turns off when i remove the key and all the bottons light up! although when i try to connect with vag com it still says not connected when i go on radio or nav module??

You need to check the K line from the OBDII to the radio.

ah right, i will get on that tomorrow, so its plug b terminal 5 to where? what are you calling the obd2? the diagnostic plug?

Yes. Pin 7 should be a green wire. That is your K line.
