Default S8 D2 gearbox failure

Hi, any help much appreciated.
After consulting Audi dealers and transmission mechs nobody can give me a yes or no. 1999 S8 D2 with engine gearbox codes AGF DUR ECZ lost reverse. What other codes will match ECZ ? I have found a totalled S8 with documented rebuild transmission 24k miles ago code AHC DNU DYM is this likely to match?
If one of you enthusiasts can help I would be very pleased. Thanks

First, only the last 3 letters mean anything ... ECZ or DYM.

At the very least, you'd need the rear differential from the same donor car (or same final drive ratio).

The ECZ has a final drive ratio (front and middle diffs, built into the trans) of 3.700 to 1 ... The DYM is a 4.111 to 1 ratio. The rear end has to match the same final drive ratio as the transaxle.

I have no idea if other aspects are compatible (mounting, electrical, etc ..), but MANY other D2 transaxles have the same front/middle final drive ratio as the ECZ ...such as: CUE, TPZ, DSL, DSM, DTD, DTE, EDG, ESX, FBE, FBF, FBH, FBJ, FGS, FUM, FUN, FUU & GLA.

The other option is to get Gabor aka Tozo to rebuild your transmission. He is located in the Chicago area and is expert on these transmissions. Couldn't tell where you are located from your profile.

Good luck,

Brian C.

Hi Brian C
Sorry didn't add that I'm located in the south of Spain. Not much luck on sensible rebuild costing here, hence my post on used item.
Thanks for your interest. And regards to Pooh !
