My transmission is working fine I have done around 5000 km after the rebuild but I have just noticed when in the morning I put the D it take around 2 seconds to engage .and when I want to slow down from 5th gear to 4th at around 100 km or 120 with the selector the transmission bumps roughly .but when I want to accelerate with my foot on the throttle from 5th to 4th or kicked down it is very smooth .Is it from the throttle body or the transmission F125 Switch? or something is not rebuild correctly?

ZF sells rebuilt transmissions for the S8 D2 for a little over $2k.

Really?
Where did you see that?

Phwoar! Not in Australia they don't!
I was quoted aud$7000 +GST (10%) for a change over here (including fitment) by the authorised dealer - and they didn't seem interested in any form of diagnosis... Even for a valve body I was quoted aud$2500!

I have been checking this audiusaparts like monthly and recently transaxle is no longer available.
I think the price was 4300$ plus core 1500$

Don't go to a transmission shop for rebuild. Highly likely it won't work right.

Either get rid of the car once the box goes, or buy a remanufactured unit. I was quoted 5300 euros here in France three years ago. Did a rebuild for 3500 and never really got the car back. Just piling up legal fees.

I disagree completely with this.
But like all things Audi, you need to pick your specialist.

Find a transmission shop that knows and specialises in ZF transmissions. Ask your Audi specialist mechanic who he uses and why. Phone around too, but it's easier to work off reputation and word of mouth.

That worked well for me.

The parts bill to rebuild a transmission even down here (rip off city for parts prices with the tyranny of distance and all that jazz) is under aud$4000 - obviously depends on what needs replacing. If valve body and torque convertor are good and it's just bearings and seals, it will be a lot cheaper on parts.
There isn't aud$3000 of labour in it, so I don't see a price justification for the aud$7000 (+GST) the ZF authorised shop wants to charge for a change over...
