Symphony 6 CD changer won't load or unload
Got the "Error 3" on my Symphony II after a CD got stuck.
I pulled the radio and popped off the top of the CD unit. 4 CDs were inside and one CD was dislodged. I slid the CD out manually thru the load slot using my finger. Now, when I power on the unit, the CD unit goes thru its initialization routine but won't play a CD. If I press LOAD, it whirrs away as if expecting a disc but never grabs my offered CD. Similarly it won't eject a CD either.
I don't know how the load/eject mechanism works so it's hard to know what to look for but I suspect the fact that it won't swing the play arm across either suggests that they both use the same mechanism.
Anyone repaired this problem?

CD unit swap
So I purchased a used Symphony II unit on Ebay for $45.
It came with no security code.
The dealer wants $148 to connect my car up their special link to Germany and retrieve it. This would make it a $193 radio.
So I decided to just swap out the CD unit. Turns out that it's quite easy.
About 8 screws and one ribbon connector and the whole unit slides out.
I then re-assembled and tested only to get error 1.
Then I cleaned the laser head and tried again. Eventually I got a CD to play, but not without renewed Error 3 loading errors. Right now I have 1 CD that will play, and Error 3 when I try to load the second one.
I'm giving up for now and using the iPod.
