transmission slip 03 s8

Last night as i was leaving a party i was at a stop light and start to drive the car revs to about 3rpm and thuds into gear and is having trouble catching 3rd gear never had any probs before .... Going to get fluid levels checked today any advice , also anyone know the correct fluid needed any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it still does it after you restart the engine, then most like a broken clutch A .

The Trans needs a rebuild.

2001 Audi S8 transmission (ZF)

With 110,000 miles on the vehicle I began to have issues with abrupt changes in shifts. I read (here) of a solution (complete service using only Audi ATF etc.) and for the first few hundred miles that seemed to be the answer - shifts were crisp. However it then came back put less frequently. I am now so conscious of the matter that I am "feathering" the throttle to avoid the happening. Any further advice?
