Got any pics further out to better put it in context?
What year is the car?
Its about the right place for secondary air pump, but I don't think earlier models had the wiring for that.

Thanks for your help. Found the connector. I can't get my hand down there so it will be this weekend. Hasn't been hooked up since I have owned the car. Wondering what will happen when hooked up.

OK, I'm surprised the thermal switch connector is unplugged!
Anyway, you may not notice any difference immediately.
The climate control runs the thermofan (auxiliary fan) periodically itself anyway to help cool the condensor for the airconditioning. So the fan will run even without the thermal switch connected, provided the climate is run in fully automatic mode.
The thermal switch itself has two operating temperatures (which is why it has three wires).
The first temperature is 94-85°C (switch closes at 94°C and reopens at 85°C) and operates the fan on medium speed, which is the same speed the climate control operates it at.
The second temperature is 102-91°C and operates the fan on high speed.
With that plug unplugged, you will never have had the fan operate on high speed.
It only operates on high speed during extreme temps, such as working hard on a 35°C day (high 90's °F). Under normal circumstances you rarely hear it.
Also, if you now choose to operate your climate control on "Econ" mode (where it disengages the compressor magnetic clutch and doesn't run the airconditioning - and thus doesn't use the auxiliary fan), you will now have the additional cooling protection of the auxiliary fan via the thermal switch.

Hit it with a little spray electrical contact cleaner and maybe a little di-lelectric grease. Plug it in and unplug it a couple of times for some mechanical cleaning of the connection as well. It lives in an unfriendly environment. When mine was overheating, this was the cause - and it was plugged in. Nor Cal 105 degrees....running with the windows down and heater on...no bueno.
