Default Cool. I have the fluid, based on another post on this.

That really nails the process.

Thanks yet again, Paul.

Default I guess one thing it doesn't flush is the rack

Unless you move the steering back and forth....maybe skiracer could comment on that one?

Even so, it has to change out a lot (more than 75%) of the fluid.

If you turn the wheel back and forth (wheels up, engine off) most of the old fluid will be forced out of the return line.

You might consider turning the wheels back and forth with the engine on. Typically, one side of the piston receives full system pressure always (its piston area is half that of the other, variable pressure side of the piston) so without flow through the pump, turning the wheel back and forth might just push dirty rack fluid into the pump then suck it back into the rack.

That's how my shop did it, and it used about 3 liters of fluid for the whole procedure.

Default I'm guessing that the rack doesn't hold all that much based upon the color of the fluid in my

reservoir after I did this.

Default We have a flush machine that will flush all the fluid including the rack.

I have not flushed my fluid yet. Soon as I get a chance to do so, I will report how effective it is.

Default awesome write up! thanks! FYI, your labeling in the article is wrong.

the Tee'd line is the return and the other line is the "suction" line as described in bentley.
