Xenon Bulb Recommendations?
Hey D2 Owners,
My headlight bulbs have seen better and brighter days, so it's time to replace them. Any recommendations? I want to keep close to OEM lighting 4300K - 5000K. Currently I'm looking at Wagner D2S bulbs or FLÖSSER D2S bulbs, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I'd agree with you if the OP needs Halogen globes.
For D2S replacements, I used genuine Osram's on mine.
Bit hard to find genuine, as the Chinese are making 'genuine' copies!
Would also trust Phillips.
You should pay around $100 pair, maybe less, for them based on when I got mine. I sourced them from a reputable supplier somewhere (forget who), not Ebay!
I don't know Wagner, but they're nice and cheap on Amazon ($30). Based on price, not sure I'd trust them.
Never heard of Flosser either, but based on prices I saw, stump up the extra $20 and get the better brand!
FWIW, I'd stick with 4300K-5000K for a nice white OEM look. Above 5000K you move towards blue/violet and lose usable light IMO.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to go with Osram 4150K D2S bulbs. Since I've used OEM/high quality parts when replacing items, I'll keep that trend going. Plus the originals lasted for 15 years so I'll be good for quite some time.

Apparently genuine Osram D2S's for $22 a pair...
Retail is more than double that each!

I agree! It's probably not genuine, or, not famous branded. But I paid US$5 a pair of bulbs. That was amazingly worth the money. It's at least worth the risk. I spent another US$30 to have a mechanic doing the service (exchange bulbs). Next time I will do it my self and save some money.

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased Philips D2S #85122. Color was perfect (factory). Bulbs were genuine Philips too.
Price was $52.00 per bulbs and install took me 20 minutes. If you're thinking of replacing your HIDs, I highly recommend Philips.

I tried some of the cheapo Chinese D2S bulbs back when new Phillips were really expensive and I was not happy with the results.
I actually ended up getting a used bulb, they do not really burn out and could last 20 years or more if they do not leak the gas mix out. IMO if you can find used OEM Osram/Phillips bulbs from Audi or Infiniti or whatever for $10-$15 it's worth getting one to keep in the glovebox. I think the ebayers that resell parts form the pick-n-pull sell a ton of these for under $15.
