2004 Audi A8L MMI Control panel is unresponsive and lights never come on
Hi forum my first post here. 2 week ago I bought 2004 Audi A8L with 100k, only problem I'm experiencing when I start the car monitor comes out plays music for like 4 seconds and then monitor goes back down and music turns off. I took out MMI control panel next to the gear shift, cleaned it but problem wasn't solved, just to note it feels like MMi control panels never receives power, lights never come on. If anyone has experienced same problem, your help would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Welcome to the board, first tell us where you are located, maybe someone in your area will have a VCDS and will scan your vehicle for you, Or you should get your hands on one of these Ross-Tech Store: VCDS License with HEX-USB+CAN Unlimted VIN (All VAG) and scan the vehicle, just a note you will need this to service your vehicle yourself, PLEASE do not by a cheap knockoff, they do not work, then post the scan here for us to help you, I am going to venture to say that you will need a replacement MMI Control Head, which is located behind the glove box bolted to the firewall next to the CAN BUS Gateway which could also be the cause of your problem, BUT a SCAN is a must to locate the culprit of your fault, also do an OPTIC SCAN, and as one member just posted his car became totaled because of clogged sunroof drains, be sure that yours are clear, also let us know if you have any dampness behind the glove box or on the carpet below it.

Thank you Johnny for your time, I live in Brooklyn but if anyone has a VCDS in different part of NYC I can drive there no problem.
Also I noticed if I break fiber optics loop Monitor do not come out, MMI system is unresponsive unlike when everything is connected it works only for the first 4 seconds, now I'll go and check if I have any dampness behind the glove box and let you know.

Check the optical plug on each device to see if the red light is there
Since the optical signal is traveling through a daisy chain of components. I think if one component is malfunction or the line is "interrupted", you may not see the red light on the open end.
-CD + AMI (glove box).
-Navigation (in the trunk).
-RADIO (in the trunk)
-SIRI (in the trunk).
-Head unit behind the glove box - through CD player.
-check everything in the trunk that has the optical.

You need to delete all errors and perform a fresh scan. Some of those may be just history. You also need to perform Optic Loop diagnostic. Post them here.

It does look like my problem before...
One of your optical cable is NOT working, if it's opened the screen will be stuck at black.

Do you have any after market devices that use MOST optical bus?
Like AMI or things like that?
Everything checked out on your vcds, communication seems to have no problem. It must be something that's malfunctioned after it's turned on.
