Just curious if it is an option or code-able with VCDS. I have read a few things that suggests it is available, but I haven't stumbled upon anything definitive.

The diesel cars have an electric cabin booster heater as the engines take so long to warm up. You can code this to operate for a short while off battery power to warm the cabin.

There is also the gasoline powered Webasto engine and cabin heater that is common on euro models, and is controlled via MMI but was never an option in the USA. Although I understand retrofitting isn't particularly difficult with used parts of eBay.
