Lower rear control arms (front wheels)
How much wiggle should these have? They both move a bit, but wondering how much play is normal?
I have a pretty bad shimmy in the steering wheel but I have a bad alignment, and my tires are toast. These will be taken care of immediately, so I guess I will find out if they were the only culprit!
On a totally unrelated note, in honor of Alibaba going public today, I have your new air shock source!

Many parts of the suspension are designed to move...
If you have someone turn the wheel while you are out of the car looking at it, you will see show many parts, the lower rears included, move discernibly with steering input. It is part of the design.
Having done the lower rears on my A6Q with a similar aluminum set up, they are both kind of a bear to do and so robust I didn't find much of any wear at post 100K. By contrast just like on the A8, lots of wear over time on the front uppers and some on the roll bar U links. Of the four major arm components I would probably do rear lowers last, and would do tie rods before I did those, backed up by my A6 prior experience and my A8 experience to date (front uppers and U links).
Net, assuming you have done front uppers and maybe U links, get the tires changed and have them check at least the tie rods before aligning. Shimmy is probably simply tires and now wear based misbalance.
