I am thinking about buying a wood trim steering wheel for my 2004 A8, and as part of the decision making process I am wondering if there is a market for my present wheel which is a Black 4 spoke , heated wheel with shift paddles. In excellent condition. All that is need to make the shift paddles function in your car is to Vag Com the car to acknowledge the padlles.

Since this is an 04-05 wheel it has the round airbag, however, the wheel I want to get is from an 06 and I will need to get a trapezoid bag. So if someone has an 06 and wants paddles and doesnt mind a round bag (actually everything old is new again, as they say, and the D4s have round bags) we could swap the bags.

Also, I dont know which year the heated wheels got their own switch, but on my car the heated wheel comes on only with the seat heater. So I do not think the heat function will work if this wheel is in a MY A8 that would have a switch for the wheel heater.
