Default Totalled my 04 A8L. Pictures. Airbags saved my life

2 weeks ago a drunk driver slammed into me. Fortunately, I walked away without injury. The same could not be said for my car. Although I've had some issues with the maintenance, the safety offered by these vehicles far outweighs the occasional headache. I'm buying another 2004 Audi A8L from California (I live in Wisconsin). Does anyone know best (cheap) ways to transport a vehicle cross country.

Sorry for your loss. Glad everyone was ok. Those knee airbags look like they did the job also. It may be a pain but in your best interest to drive the new vehicle home personally. I brought mine home to Connecticut from New Hampshire.

Glad you were ok. My advice is similar to 1Wasserwerks; fly there and drive her back. I-70 & 80 are a great place to get to know her. I went to Chicago and drove mine just to Detroit. Stopped at Tire Rack's HQ and picked up eight new tires and four wheels for the snow tires along the way.

I am glad you are OK. It looks terrible. A pillar is broken. That required a lot of force. What was that other vehicle?

Wow glad you're ok; car took it like a champ.

Any chance you wanna sell the winter wheel/tire set up? I'm in Chicago, can swing by and pick it up!

It was a Semi... 50 mph

I would sell the wheels/tires but my insurance company needed everything As-Is for full reimbursement.

Glad you're ok.

We talk a lot on these forums about the performance, mods, etc. But safety is one thing that doesn't get the spotlight very often at all.

The Pictures say it all. I hope I never need it, but I'm glad to see that it's there when needed.

I'm glad you are ok as well. It is a testament for our D3's safety. I bought my car in El Paso and had it shipped to Atlanta for about $800. Flying and picking up my car was not an option for me since i use hand controls to drive.

Wow I would've expected total destruction with a semi at that speed. Great cars!

OMG!! Wow the protection of these cars are priceless despite the maintenance headache. I'm glad that you were ok and protected you very well and you can live to talk about it. As far as a replacement fly to where you're going(California) and drive it back. Buy a reasonably cheap one way ticket and drive it back. I can never buy a car sight unseen. That's just me. I bought my 06 in Boston and drove it back to Akron, OH which took me 9.5 hrs to get back. You won't regret it. If you need advice on which model to get we are here to help you. Best of luck to you .
