Eh, no offense taken. We are all just trying to help others and are finding it difficult to keep replying with initial, simple fact-finding questions which consumes a lot of time.
I'm a former Scirocco owner as I see you have/had a Gen II version. Actually had two identical (only the factory radio ***** were different) 1980 Alpine White Scirocco S vehicles. One was totalled after ten months so I got an identical replacement. The '81's were out but they actually detuned the horsepower a bit to improve fuel economy and I wanted none of that.
The photo was taken in front of the defunct VW Westmoreland County Rabbit/Golf assembly plant in New Stanton, Pennsylvania. At the time VW's only US plant. It ten closed and there was none as they started to create one in the carcass of a never finished Chrysler plant near Detroit. They halted it in mid-construction.
I sure miss that car.

it gets used way less used than it should, but i don't think i can ever sell it. i have a life
sentence with it, no possibility of parole. i just wish the audi was as simple as this thing!
a nice mk1 S would compliment it well though. that's the dream. one of each!

This is one of the reason why I don't use VCDS only when the car dies
i can't believe this is happening hahahahah
i replaced the module last night and everything was going smoothly. the new one was showing
no more defective module error anymore. i was running an output test on the ABS module on
the vagcom and it crashed midway through... after the error is back and won't go away again.
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Most of savvy VCDS users screwed their cars up more than the ones without.
I don't even clear the codes, as long as everything runs without warning lights, it's fine.
Cheers,
Louis

found the problem.
famous wiring harness corrosion. i see that it has been fixed already once with those yellow dealer
replacement wires, now it broke further back. i traced the wires and replaced it pretty far up the harness.
you would just touch the wires and they would turn to dust.
in VCDS it still shows me module defective, but the errors are gone from the dash.
whatever, i'll take it!

Just keep in mind that under the worst temperature and humidity conditions, water can wick 3M in wiring. That's why it needs to be sealed at every connector or end. If the insulation jacket gets compromised, the corrosion travels in both directions
