I have read many threads on this. Resolutions seem to be compressor, struts, relay, or control unit. Folks talk about spraying hoses, struts, and other with soapy water and watch for bubbles to find leaks. (Don't know how I would see anything the way things are packed in, but will certainly try)
I sometimes get the amber and/or green warning light on dash ( which usually goes out after my commute is over, or by the next day). I have never heard any air leaking and the compressor has never continued running (Until Now) compressor running, (no air leak that I can hear). I don't believe I have strut problem as corners have not dropped. The car doesn't always lower and release air when I shut off as I have heard from some people.
I have been tracking issue for about a week.
• 2/4/16 - Car parked and left running, get back in after 2 minutes and amber and green lights are on.
• 2/5/16 - Start car no lights on and no issues
• 2/6/16 - Car parked and left running get back in after 5 minutes and Green light comes on after driving 1 block.
• 2/7/16 - Started car and the level raised and green light went out.
• 2/9/16 - Get off freeway and after about 300 yards the "Up Arrow" turned Whit and the drive mode changed from "Auto" to "Dynamic", Green light on. Got home parked car, shut off and restarted. I changed mode back to "Auto" and the light went out and the car lifted.
• 2/10/16 - Once again got off freeway and after about 300 yards white "Up Arrow" stayed on this time and the pump continued to run until i got home and shut off the car. When I restarted it was in "Dynamic" mode and pump was off. Now if I try changing it to any other mode or lift the pump runs but nothing happens.

Might this be an electrical issue? Relay or control unit? I have rebuild kit arriving this weekend for the air compressor.

Sounds like you have a leak to me, usually a strut. Did any one corner seem lower than the others? The compressor is not supposed run that long, definitely not a whole trip home. If your compressor isn't broken, it will be soon if that keeps up.

Corners do not seem to be low but I have not measured. I actually just received my compressor rebuild kit. I understand that after 2,5, and 10 hours the system comes out of sleep mode to adjust the height so I hope the pump doesn't keep running and burn out.
something i didn't mention was when I start the car it makes 5 or 6 soft ticking sounds about 2 seconds apart and then stops. (Just trying to relay all info I can.)

You can pull the fuse if it's running enough to be a concern.

It's not running at all right now, but wonder if it will start when it comes out of sleep mode. Just checked and its been about 2 1/2 hours and not running.

When I get into my car and wait a few seconds (ignition off) , it will adjust the height using the air that is in the reservoir. I can hear the air valve click on and off as needed to accomplish this. Apparently it knows that I got into the car and is preparing the suspension for travel.

I did the rebuild service kit and it was great for about 6-8 months or so but then the compressor got loud and ran more frequently so I had to replace it. Couldn't find any leaks so i guess it just came to the end of it's life. Everything sweet now

I am going to replace the O and piston ring in the air compressor. I do have a pit in my garage so I don't need to jack it up but to get the left tire off. I am wondering about venting the system. The Bentley manual says "Vent System" and looks like this is done with VCDS. I was told by a wise man once that the manual is not always accurate. Should I block up both sides? Does anything special need to be done or just pull the supply line? What about the back? Will the accumulator maintain the rear height?

When I changed my compressor I just jacked it up, changed it and let it down. No need to vent anything. I think I had to remove the belly pan and front wheel well liner.

I had to remove the fuse as the pumpm will not stop running now. How long can one drive with the fuse out and pump not running. I would think it OK until the pump is replaced or is it bad for some reason?
