Default AMI Retrofit Kit part numbers are finally here

There are at least 3 parts you need to order:

AMI controller: 4E0 057 785 is part number on the box but the AMI controller inside has part number 4E0 035 785 Price USD: $648.49
(This unit replaces the empty box next to your CD changer in the glove box and is the same gizmo in late model A8's that were ordered with AMI). FYI, this unit was packaged in an old Audi CD player box which may be the source of confusion for some Audi dealers who think the AMI replaces the CD player.

AMI retrofit kit: 4F0 051 529 A Price USD: $182.30
(This is the retrofit MOST fiber optic wiring harness for the A8 that adds another set of MOST connectors in the MOST ring between the MMI and the CD changer) The installation manual comes with this kit.

AMI iPod Cable: 4F0 0515 10A Price USD: $65.10
(This is the cable that connects Generation 4 and above iPods to the AMI controller; if you have an older iPod or something that is not an iPod then you will need a different cable - see Accessories link off the Audi website for more info)

Additional parts are required for 2003 models.

I paid $896 USD in parts plus 2 hours labor.

Compatibility - see the more recent post for this info.

Safety - If you are driving, try to limit yourself to steering wheel controls so you can keep your eyes on the road. Use of pre-defined playlists is recommended to avoid unnecessary distraction.

Happy New Year!<ul><li><a href="http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Features/article_2601.shtml">A great Fourtitude article on AMI unit</a></li></ul>

Have you installed this and have you confirmed it will work in a 2004 model?

Thanks!

Okay

I have called 6 dealerships on long island....ALL CLUELESS.

Two know boo about it.

One says it will not work with low vin '04s

Many say that it will cause the CD Changer to be mising, no use of CD changer (Can someone confirm?)

No one has the EKTA numbers given above, except for the first one which they all have listed as a CD changer.

Contacted an online retailer and his response was --I have not sold the retrofit kit for the A8L yet. According to ETKA, the part numbers are the same. The only AMI currently available is the 4E0035785B. These will interchange. The other two part numbers are the same. I do not have them currently in stock, but can ship in 2-3 days. It is available on our website, www.genuineaudiparts.com . If you order part number C6AMIKIT, it will include all three part numbers for $721.19. (A savings of $174.70 from suggested retail)I know that these are used parts as per his website. It worked on a guys A6 on Navplus forum, but not sure I am willing to chance it for my A8L.

Waiting to get a definitive yes to a member here getting it done and getting details then.

Default Call Carson at Riverside Audi

He sells for 15% over list. Example: $425 self cancelling ring list price, I just got it for $292. Bluetooth factory module: list price was around $550, I got it for $420.

I would call versus email him (faster service), tell him you are from audiworld and he orders the part, it comes in, ships the same day and you get the UPS tracking number by email.

Need OEM parts? AW Members pay 15% over dealer cost!
Need Performance parts? We're an APR dealer too!

I was referring to that in my post, he ordered from the online retailer I mention. Only issue is that was an 06 and an A6.
