AMI retrofit, with MOST-bus or CAN bus?
Hi all,
I'm glad to join you this forum.
I want to install AMI system in my Audi A8 2007' but I'm wondering in eBay there are 2 types of AMI connection, MOST bus and the other is CAN bus. So how do I know which one is compatibil with my Audi and how do I check which system is in my Audi?
Thanks

It is a most system I am almost positive, which is the fiber optic ring.
Look here, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-Music-I...item19d53504ea
That is a link to a retrofit kit and what is included. CAN systems are for MMI systems that are not MMI high (which the a8, a6 and q7 is)
CAN is just the system interface to talk to the cars, so where the system connects via VCDS and such.
So overall you need one that is compatible with Audi 2g MMI systems. (MMI High)

I have a Dension Gateway 500 I pulled from my 2004 that will work in any D3 (2004 - 2009) A8. $250 and you'll need to order the following from Dension:
http://shop.dension.com/en/gw500-optical-kit
You'd also need to order the iPod cable for $20 from them.
So for $300 you'd have the full Dension kit with the Bluetooth upgrade which gives you A2DP audio support as well.

Thanks everyone for reply,
What about the instalation instructions? please note I don't wish to lose the CD changer, so is it as easy as connect the splited cable that comes with the AMI kit into the main harness that was plugged into the CD changer?
If any one has instalation pictures, please help

I just completed my install today and it literally only took 5-10 minutes. I did already have the MMI updated though.
Biggest concern I had moving into this was an interesting one and I'm definitely in need of an explanation if somebody has it. I ordered this exact ebay item... As you can see the product description says the part number is 4EO 057 785F but one of the images says 4EO 035 785F. I further asked which was the actual listing as they said the image was outdated and that the product was in fact 4EO 057 785F which I knew (thanks to audiworld) was the correct part for an '07 S8.
Low and behold the product arrived and to my dismay was what I thought to be the wrong (035) part number (see image). I saw the label said AMI MOST so I double checked the connections, low and behold it worked.
Is there any explanation for this as I have no clue?
