AMI Update
Well while I am waiting arrival of my AMI I bought from a friendly user on here I was poking around for what I needed etc. I am currently on MMI 46.1 (the newest) so I shouldn't need to mess with anything with the vag-com, hopefully just install the AMI, and restart the MMI and I should be good. While poking around I found an update for the AMI system itself. It can be updated using the USB attachment and putting the update file on the USB and installing from the MMI in car. This update is to allow for better compatibility with newer mp3 players as well as other devices. The date on it is May, 2008. So most of you should already be updated, but if you have any issues, might as well try updating it.
Here's the download link I uploaded for you guys:

What I would do is install it and if it works fine, don't mess with the update.
AFAIK updates do not improve the sound quality, which seems to be the most important reason to do it. If you get great sound, get song text on your MMI screen, and have steering wheel and center console functionality you're GTG.

Of course, I would only install it if one were coming across difficulties such as the previous poster. That update fixed his problem where ipod compatibility didn't previously work.

Plug flash drive containing update file into the USB to ami cable. Then plug the ami cable into the ami and it should ask to begin the update process.

Amazon. $20. Where I got mine and if works perfect. They also make a 3.5mm jack for playing music off other devices outside of a HDD or apple devices.
