Thanks for the advice. When I got the car, it had both the MD and CD changers. I removed the MD changer and replaced it with AMI. I tried using the 3 firmware update discs for Europe and I got the prompt that they are incompatible with the car as the car is Japanese spec. Is there a way I can update the MMI using the European CDs?

You can change it to any version starting update from Bootloader. Or you can find newest Japanese version. Where are you? It could be that European version won't work properly in your area.

Hi, I am unable to access the bootloader menu. I am in Nairobi Kenya. The attached photos show what happens when I try to update

This old post had a nice listing of MMI versions and corresponding update CD part numbers. It may be that you should look for p/n 4L0 998 961 for the latest EU/ROW spec MMI upgrade CDs.

Since you mentioned that you have a Japanese spec car, can you tell us what software version is currently running on your MMI?
This thread is for AMI update! Not MMI.

Default Wrong board, but...iPhone 6?

You want to post it to the A5 board (and/or B8 A4 or Q5); all the same core set up AMI set up on the newest ones.

But FWIW, my experience is about 9 times out of 10 it is an operator issue or a phone side issue. Your first step should always be to check it with a known good phone.

Brozee, do you still have the files for the AMI update on page 1? The link on this thread is no longer valid. Thanks

I finally found the AMI update file, and applied it. I wasn't having any issues but at least I know I have the latest software. You were right MP, it is a different update from the MMI.

I do have the file backed up as I knew that file hosting site would go out at some time. Let me know if anyone else needs it and I can just email them the update file. Too bad they still haven't come out with a cheaper workaround to using the AMI.
