i was on ebay looking to replace mine and i saw they made the belly pan / splash shield for a few VW cars and the A4s so i contacted some one and asked what if i have 50+ people interested in it would they be willing to make production for the A8 they said yes. i suppose they figured out all the noise issue and other thing making them for the A4s so no issue for the A8. personally i dont think there will be that much noise and i think it wont damage easily.
i looked up panzer plate thats what im talking about.

Then, if you know, the fastening points on pre 2008 cars are different at the rear, than on 2008-2009 cars.
Pre 2008 cars have 3 fastening points rear for the belly pan, then they have a 30cm long and 70cm wide extension with 3 fastening points at the rear, AND one 20cm wide and 50cm long extension under the gearbox, bolted with 2 bolts to the gearbox carrier and 2 quick fastening screws to the "middle" extension.
2008-2009 cars have only the belly pan (not made of plastic, but from some kind of soft material), with 5+3 quick screw fasteners at the rear, and no separate middle extension, this goes together with the belly pan. And also, no "rear" extension under the geabox.
The front ones (3 to the bumper and 2 to each front wheel-liner) are the same.
Weirdly, the parts catalogue tells:
V8+V6TDI models 4E0825195
V6 petrol models 4E0825195A
V10/W12 4E0825195B
The aluminium belly pan would be great, if you drive under harsh environments, BUT do you really do it with your A8?
It will defineatly protect against sharp and big objects cracking your oil pan, but a 2mm aluminium plate won't protect too well against anything. 4-5mm would be another thing, but that's already quite heavy, and then you need to add sound insulation.
And it will NOT protect against hitting a pot-hole, or taking up on curbs. Those will still destroy your entire front suspension, oil-pan and bumper.
