Anyone know this part # from fuel pump?
I am in a little jam here, this brass valve off one of the high pressure fuel pumps is stripped and I can't connect my fuel line now. Dealer claims they don't sell it separately. Anyone can help out here and tell me the proper name or part #? Can I replace with something else? It's the one circled. Off of 07 A8 4.2L Thanks

I worked at Autozone a few years back, and we used to sell loose brass fittings. That looks like one we would have carried. Unless there is anything special about that particular one the picture doesn't show, it may be worth checking a couple parts stores to see if they carry the matching brass fitting.

That looks like a pipe thread on one side to a tubing fitting (not sure if for flared or compression type fitting. However, most Metric threads are "running" threads. They are not tapered so they will bottom out. There needs to be a seal. Usually a thrust washer that cups over an O-Ring or a thrust washer with integrated rubber seal.
Parker has some Metric fittings. Voss (whatever they are called these days) specialized in Metric. WABCO also has several. But, not that small as they are for air brake lines. Also, very few are imported to the North American market as they get installed on vehicles that get exported from here overseas. Again, none that small as air brake lines need to be larger to meet brake timing requirements.

I contacted my dealer and was told I'd have to order the entire high pressure fuel pump! Tried all the auto parts stores and Home Depot in my area with no luck. Went to an Indy shop, he knew exactly what it was but didn't have any until Monday. I think I'll try to file the threads down to make it work til then.

That looks like 1/4 BSP (outside) x 1/4 NPT (inside)
But it may be something special, your best bet to find a replacement is a shop that sells Hydraulic/Pneumatic fittings etc

I found an Indy shop near me that could get me one even though the great Audi dealer said I'd have to buy the entire pump just for the $4 fitting. I ended up filing the threads until it went on smoothly for now(no leaks), once the new one comes in, I'll replace it. But I came across other people on VW boards with this same problem. Surprised the dealer doesn't have a replacement.

Had a similar experience recently with rear brake caliper slide pins. Needed on as the old one wa sseized in place. After heating and using penetrating oil and a 5# ball peen hammer and cold chisel, I got the old one out after 30 min of beating it. It was bent but I straightened it on an anvil and slightly ground it so it would move freely after greasing it.
Dealer said you cannot get them unless you buy a new pad carrier for $175.00
I went to Rock Auto and got a pair of exact fit for $10.00 brand was either Wagner or Raybestos.
I am familiar with the German service part way of thinking and understand this. You just have to go around the normal channels sometimes.
