Thus you need an adapter ring that fills in the hole of the bigger center S5 wheels so it is hub centric to the smaller D3 hub center. Otherwise all the weight is on the lug nuts only and the wheel can move some around the hub in theory. In practice makes it more likely to have vibration and similar issues. Just get a set of the hub centric rings. People seems to say the metal ones are more durable than the plastic, but neither are perfect. I have never done it so don't know preferred sources, but some others on the board have.
Thanks for the knowledge. Last question do I need to order then or can I get a good set at a local auto parts store.

Your local parts stores will give you a blank stare if you ask for these. You have to really order those online. I prefer aluminum ones. They lasted me over 10 years on my D2. You need to have these or you will have a high speed vibration.

Also, A5 wheels have a different offset less positive that our D3s. They will work but will stick out more so it's matter of person taste on fitment. If you can test fit the wheels to see if it might be too aggressive for you.

Good luck with the fitment, they should look good. Are you buying the correct size tires for your A8?

+35 are a perfect fitment for our cars. My RS4 replicas on my 05 were 20x9 +35mm and the fit was spot on for my taste. Are those aftermarket or OE wheels?

When I say 35 I'm talking tire. 255/35/19
Looked up and it said that 255/40/19 would be same circumference.
I hope that is what you were talking about.

The wheel are from S5, guy had an A6 but his car was lowered and the fit was tight

255/35x19 has 26mm smaller diameter (82mm smaller circumference) than 255/40x19.

Mishar is correct, as usual. The 255/35 is 1.1 inch shorter than the 255/40. The 35 vs 40 is a ratio of the sidewall height, relative to width. So I would change then as soon as possible.

Yeah I plan on getting the new tires soon.

First pic is the Stock A8 tires compared to the Stock S5 with old tires I just bought.

I knew the mph would be off a bit, but I would only be driving around town. When I go on vacation later this summer I will take them off and put the stock back on.

Second pic is Stock A8 and New tires that I will buy for exact circumference
