Auto Parking Brake Release

Next time I hook up the scanner I will change the setting. This is a great feature for stopping on a hill. The hills here around Houston do not require setting the brake very often. But things happen.
The brake calibration ran again last week after parking at the office. I thought if you used the parking brake this did not happen. I definately have used the parking brake several times in the last three months.

Bump.
I use this all the time and LOVE IT. The kiddos love it too especially in sport mode. 8k in first gear into second sounds like a monster!!!

I use parking brake all the time, and it still does it. Literally it did it last night, and the preceding start up/drive was the 200+ miles non-stop from Tahoe. It must have hit the magic miles trigger during the long drive.

Is it also against the law to let go off your brake when you stop uphills and car doesn't roll either way?

I suspect the speculation about the brake lights not being on when the switch is activated at speed is wrong, but as Mishar said you can always check it yourself.
The underlying function is similar/a precursor to the automated pre-crash braking systems that are increasingly standard on a variety of newer vehicles. I expect the manufacturers realize to activate the lights there too, and the stats already are saying accident rates with that feature alone are materially lower than without it. These are not "like the good ole days" where power always flows the same way through a given system. Various of the same main tail light LEDs used for braking that we are discussing also get activated with the emergency flashers for example, which of course don't pass through the physical brake light switch.

I enabled this function on our '06 wagon. It's a standard feature on our '11 and '15 cars.
