Default Battery Dead/Cant Start

So i happen to leave my fogs on for about 12 hours now and Im guessing it killed the battery because it can not start..Before I give it a boost the old fashion way with some jumper cables is there a special way on re-charging this battery

Default Hook negative to the metal post for charging, not battery

Hook negative for a charger to the hex shaped metal post above battery, rather than battery itself. Then the car power management system can keep track of battery readiness. Jumpering only to start shouldn't matter, other than safe practice to avoid final connection sparking near battery.

And...put wiring back to normal. Obviously fogs are factory wired only to run when low beam headlights are on, and then only when the switch is pulled out to activate.

All bets are off with a bastardized MMI control unit. YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE.
