I have 10,100 miles on my Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 for my OEM 18" wheels. I think they are nice in the summer, even on a wet road. They are not that good in the winter snow. At about 3000 miles i started getting a gentle up and down kind of hum at 45mph to 65mph. It did not help to have tires rebalanced or rotated. Humming is still there 7000 miles later. So that is my noise issue with them. They start at new at 10.5/32 tread depth per the Tire Rack website. Today at 10,100 miles front two are at 6/32 depth and rear two at 5/32 per the Discount Tire techs. So I cannot imagine that they will last their 45,000 mile warrantee. I had an alignment done prior to installing the tires and I don't drive aggressively, they are just wearing out. I was given the option of a pro-rated replacement with Nitto Motivo's but declined because I was pretty happy with the AS3's summer/spring/fall performance, which is at least 3/4 of my driving time. That's my opinion on the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3.

I now have about 800 miles on the Hankooks and they seem to have quieted down some. On anything less than a very smooth road they pick up the texture of the road and can be quite loud on some. On a smooth road they sound fine.

Noticing 1/32+ of wear already so this does not bode well for longevity beyond about 12,000 if I keep them. I have a week to decide whether to swap to the new Yoko Advan Sport A/S.

I have the Yoko Advan Sport A/S going on my A8 today or tomorrow so I hope I can give you at least some initial impressions!

Thanks! That would be super helpful, Greg.

The Pirelli P6's are worthless! I had those, hardly any miles out of them and they have weak side walls! I hit a small raised lane reflector and bulge appeared on side wall. I ABSOLUTELY insist on using Cooper Zeon RS3-A all season tires! I got 28,000 miles out of them last year and just got new ones though I am meticulous about my car. I watch the air pressure in tires carefully and have tires rotated every 5,000 miles. I can usually get them for $225 a tire in U.S.

I just put new Hancook Noble 2 S1's all the way around and I'm very happy with them. I noticed how quiet and smooth they are a soon as I accelerated away from the tire shop.

I got it done for $930 total using Tirerack and Tire Kingdom, plus there is a $60 gift card rebate. Also, the Hancooks have a manufacture road hazard warranty, which was an additional $90 for the Michelins...

Just replaced my P6's with these Cooper Zeon RS3-A tires that I paid $205 a tire out the door from a very good tire shop in my area. And got a $60 gift card rebate. The P6's wore out quickly and I had some tread separation on one of the rears. This is my 2nd set of these Coopers, as I had bought them on my last A8....Great bad weather traction as well needed when dealing with New England winters.

Man, you paid that much for Cooper tires?? I guess it is in line with Nitto, Michelin, and Continental. I would have sprung the extra $10-$20 a tire for a nicer tire though. Coopers are normally sold at smaller tire shops or independent shops if I'm correct.

Mike, you know your tires! You got a really good deal! I always have to REALLY haggle to get them for $225 each. They are so nice and quiet. Handle well on wet roads. I am so pleased with these tires.

I think I got a great deal...I checked all the shops in my area as well as the web. They are cheaper on the web but then you have to pay for mounting/balancing. They are American made tires that rate really well. Plus they were like the only all seasons in this size (255/40/19) that had a high mileage warranty. I don't fell like dropping another 800-1000 for tires in another 2yrs. I can speak from prior experience, they are good tires...they wear well, very quiet, and awesome traction in the snow and rain.
