I don't get it (pedal changes) either, but it is your car and the constitution guarantees you can do whatever you like to it (pursuit of happiness) so go nuts. If it makes you happy, then that is all that matters.

… shows every scratch, crumb of dirt and require weekly attention. Wish they were the rubber versions. Those I kept clean with Griot's Rubber Prep. Dark, but not slippery. Receding - kept your eye on the gauges and carpeting when entering the car.

Just a suggestion... as arguing personal taste is always a little like trying to catch a slinky as it goes down the stairs; awkward, mostly unsuccessful and never the same twice ;-)
