Changing wheels and tires on my A8L
The tires on my A8L has 31k miles on them and the treads are wearing low now. They're all Pirellis all season P Zero. I've been checking the price on the tires for my new set of rims since the 19" wheels are not very good due to curb rash and stuff.
I got these from a 2013 Q5 not too long ago for $500 with 2k miles tires. The tires are now on the Q7 and the 18" wheels will be for A8. They're practically new.
Today <a href="http://www.americastire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?c=1&rcz=94555&ar=45&rf=true&rd=1 8&rc=CEBINT&cs=255&dVeh=dVeh&ra=searchTiresByVehic leAndSize.do&fl=&tc=PIRHZK&yr=2006&pc=42143&vid=00 9566" target="_blank">Americatires has 255x45x18 Pirellis P Zero All Season Black for $157 a piece</a>, I don't know what year these were made, may be 2008-2010. Anyhow, the x owner paid $280 a piece.
I don't know if I want to remove the TPMS from the existing one to the new ones. I remembered someone on here said these rims may not fit with the TPMS since it's for the Q5.
Anyhow, I'm going to throw away my original 19" wheels since I know I'll never use them again. If you live close by and want one for spare for something, let me know, I'll call you when my tires are in and replaced.
Cheers,
Louis

2013 Q5 wheels don't have sensors, that's the concern
the wheels may not built to accommodate sensors. Anyhow, I've never seen the inside of a wheel with sensors so I can't tell.
Thanks Paul,

Still used in Canada...
In wheel sensor based TPMS was a Q5 option in Canada, at least through 2013 when I got mine (U.S. spec). I remember it from someone in Canada raising the point on the Q5 board and a U.S. vs. Canadian spec debate ensued. I think the in wheel sensor style was also an option in Europe. In addition, the early U.S. ones still had in wheel sensors as I recall.
Net, in this case an OE Q5 wheel will most likely take a D3 OE sensor, since the North America available OE Q5 wheels are all the same AFAIK.

Galco: take a look at the wheels... I'm changing them this Sunday
Hello all,
Tirerack is really fast, they shipped the tires in 1 day.
Wheelworks in the area charged $70 for removing TPMS from old ones to new ones, they said they have to remove the tires to get to the TPMS, is that true?
My wife will not let me to take the wheels back home, no more room in the garage. Galco, make sure you want these wheels. The guy that drives from the Bay to Irvine (Orange county) no longer drives the van, so he can't take the wheels down to southern CA for you.
The manager of wheelworks will take the wheels if I want without charges. I don't know how much it cost to ship from the bay to LA.
Cheers,
Louis Le

I will take them. Can you keep them outside your house as we arrange for shipment? Or ask the Wheelworks guy if he has a box from other rims that we can use for shipping and we'll ship from his location. I really could use these - Thanks!
BTW, yes the tires need to be removed to transfer the TPMS.
Also, please check your PM so we can take this conversation off line. Thanks!

Cobra... I agreed and believe it or not I'm not a fan
I don't know, these days people are crazy about big wheels, low profiles which was consider pimping many years ago.
"Better Stance" they said. All Porsches and Ferraris before are having only 15" wheels.
It's not the wheels size, it's the suspension, I thought. People who want to look good with 20" wheels and buy the worst and lowest tires possible because they actually can't afford them.

Wife loves the wheels because they're so new and shiny
Replaced the wheels and tires today. The people at wheels works are great. They asked me if I have the hub centric rings for the new wheels because the center ring is bigger than the A8 D3 since it came from a Q5. Of course I didn't have because I didn't know about these differences. Anyhow, they said the wheels would vibrate on the freeway, but my wife told me the front vibrates over rough roads which never happened before. She likes the new more meat on tires 45s vs 40s.
The tires are inflated to 40 PSI which are way more than Audi specs of 33PSI, I think that's why the vibrations exist.
Anyhow, what size of hub centric rings I need from 2013 Q5 wheels to 2006 A8L?
Thanks,
Louis
