Default Correct tire setup for W12 20inch wheel?

Finally found these wheels, now wondering about the correct tire size.Tire rack says for 2007 W12 255/35/20 front and 275/35/20 back. But if you put 2008 or 2006 it will only say 275/35/20.I will run them on my D2 S8.Wheels are 20X9 off D3.D2 version was 8.5J.Interesting that one wheel that was store display wasnt painted on the inside.I guess i will have to get it painted to match others.

275/35x20 all four for D3. I don't know if diameter would be too big for D2 but all four same size by all means.

For a D2 S8, the stock size was 245/45R18 which has a OD og 26.7 inches. The optional 19 size for a D3 A8 was 255/40R19 which has a OD of 27.0. The 255/35R20 is also 27.0 in OD. Like Mishar says, I would run the 255/35R20 on all 4 corners. Also the 255/35R20 is one of the most popular +1 or +2 size so you have a lot of tire choices from bottom of the barrell to top of the line.

Those are one of my favorite wheels for either the D2 or D3.

Right now i have 255/40/19 on D3 11 spoke wheels(turbines some call them) and no problems at all.
I think i will go with 255/35/20 since they are 1/3 or more cheaper than 275.

check the load rating on the 255's, not nearly the same as the 275's that Mishar suggested, and what I would have recommended too. I would think this to be especially important on the W12 model considering the extra heft.

275/35-20 works fine. BTW I love these wheels! Post pictures once they are installed. Good luck!

Well W12 is heavier than D2 S8 4729lbs vs. 4068 lbs
so i think load rating 97 will work because when you enter stock car info on tire rack it gives tires that have 97 rating and above.I will double check that with tire rack.
I'll definitely post some pics when i put them on.

I go with the insurance policy of the 102 load rating, rated nearly 300 pounds higher per corner. I get peace of mind and good mileage out of them. I'll be interested to hear what tirerack has to say to you.

275/35-20. BUT, read on, that is D3 W12. I don't think you are really asking the right question, or rather looking at wrong comparables. If going on a D2, you need to look at D2 specs, not D3. But for completeness, my 2006 D3 W12 new with those same 9 spoke forged wheels and that factory size; had Dunlop Sport Maxx's. You might want to check TireRack again. I couldn't get it to load a 20" size at all for 2007, but here is the 2006 screen shot specific to W12. Also to know, staggered or different sizes front to back on any Audi (other than R8) is laughable and a performance subtract. Confuses RWD stuff like BMWs and Merc. for a fundamentally FWD set up that pushes like Audis.

BUT, again you also say you are running them on a D2. Then you need to look at TIRE diameter used for D2 fitments. Apparently that is 245/45 18? That in turn is a 26.7" diameter tire. Then in turn a 275/30-20 is closer to that D2 appropriate size, while the 275/35 is a full inch larger in overall diameter at 27.7". 255/35-20 also gets you in the zone at 27" even. Finally, be careful on suspension clearances for D2. D3 wheel stock offset is not very aggressive in ET46 in a 9" width, but neither was D2. But make sure as you go to both wider wheels and wider tires it will clear, even more so if upping tire (as opposed to wheels). Trust me, I know. I have bought expensive OE wheels for both my D3 and D4 in 20's off guys for now fewer $$ who tried (and failed...) to shoehorn them into smaller or older Audis--one an somewhat older RS4 (factory flared and all) and one a newer S4. My current D4 S8 is sporting those failed fitment OE forged wheels that came from a current era S7 or D4 A8. The ones you are trying to fit are also forged, though several pounds heavier than the later version ones. They do have a classic look and nice polish for those who favor it. I recently sold mine but held onto them for many years while I had the W12.
