D3 Still Turns Heads?

D3 Still Turns Heads?
I am amazed by how many compliments I still receive on my Black/Amaretto 07 A8L. From folks on the highway and at stoplights breaking their necks to people being surprised that it's not a 2012 or newer ha! Even had a guy randomly at a restaurant walk up to me and say he saw me pull up in the parking lot and gave me his business card if I ever wanted to sell. What makes this 8 year old car such an attention getter? Perhaps where I live (DC/MD/VA region), S classes and 7 series are a dime a dozen. Even see more D4 A8's but no D3's really. You guys still getting the same amount of attention/compliments?

I get it all the time. From other Audi owners to BMW owners (jealous glare), even newer Cadillac owners. Not sure what causes it, but definitely a neck breaker.

My 04 still gets looks, especially when it's clean. Although not too many in your face kudos in Chicagoland as there are quite a few around. Although I did once get some random guy in a truck yelling to me how much he liked the car and would I sell it....

The million dollar question everyone always seem to ask me is "Have you had any issues with your A8? I've been looking at one". It's always hard to say no, because then I would be lying. But I haven't had any real issues, except for normal wear and tear and maintenance items but I'm usually frank with people in telling them to proceed with caution because repairs are expensive.
Perhaps the lines on this car are a classic and will remain relevant for a very long time. This along with no decrease in performance at 90,000 miles has convinced me to keep this beast.

I think the D3 is a design sweet spot that is aging very well. It's not got the full on rounded look of the 90's (Benz S class of same era looks really dated now, and 7 series looks old school too) and has enough "edges" in the bodywork to still look relevant today.

Of course they do! I wouldn't have just bought one if they didn't.
I drove the big boys from Benz (S55 and S500's, as well as E55's) and even a big bimmer 740iL. The only one, the ONLY ONE that looked modern and seemed to have an interior that aged well was the A8.
It didn't hurt that my wife (who knows next to nothing about cars), looked at all of those cars with me and upon seeing the A8 said, and I quote:
" I would totally F*#$ the guy driving that "
I (literally) laughed out loud and responded " I guess we're getting that one, huh?"

I just picked up a '12 D4 so the wife gets the D3 now... Have to say the D3 looks lower meaner and generally less lard arsed than the D4....that said, I still have my modestly lowered D2 parked in the street whilst I decide what to do with it and I like that best of all....

I agree with all the comments. Folks are constantly staring at the car, especially on the road. Some get so distracted to the point of almost running a red light or hitting the car in front of them. Here's a pic from Saturday.
