Default D3 SWB correct rear legroom?

Greetings, the model guide appears to have volume information where the SWB rear legroom should be. I'd guess it would be around 38 or 39" but I'd like to know for sure.

I checked all D3 SWB models listed on the model guide, including the S8, and the information for rear legroom appears to be non sequitur.

I've had a D1 and D2, so I guess it's time for a D3......

Danke.

LWB is 42.3", so 6" less is 36.3". Go for LWB and you will be happy.

Default I'm pretty sure the D3 is not smaller than the D2

My D2 S8 (SWB) had 38.4" of rear legroom, so I have to believe a D3 SWB car would have at least that much.

36" sounds more like an A6. (I think even the MkVII Golf has 35+" of rear legroom...)

The car I'm considering is a D3 S8 hence only SWB. Were I to get an A8 it would naturally be LWB.

Do not think anyone much over 6' has ridden in the rear of my SWB, but not complaints, or having to adjust front seats. I have long arms and move the seat back. So I would not sweat it.
I think the SWB is sportier. Should be anyway. That is why the S8 is only SWB.

3 words--GET THE S8. I'm not sure on actual legroom, but I will say that I have both front seats in my car setup for me to sit in [6'1, 185lb] and the other day I took 3 of my colleagues out for lunch in the new car. One of the guys in the back is 6'4 225lb and commented on how it was the roomiest back seat he had ever sat in.

Bottom line--legroom isn't the reason you buy an S8 [at least for most people], but If I can be driving and my 6'4 ex football player friend can be sitting behind my seat waxing sentimental about how much room he has, legroom should be good enough for all but a carful of NBA players.

Default Specs:

See this for D3 w/ LWB and SWB; rear legroom: https://www.audiworld.com/model/a8/06/A8%20tech.pdf

See this for same info for D2: https://www.audiworld.com/model/a8/02/a8.pdf

D1 was really a C3 (A6/S6) body wise, a.k.a. the 5000/100/200 so a quite different and more cozy midsize one.

My own experience looking at these over the years and owning a bunch of A6's is the SWB ones have just a little more rear legroom than A6's but a noticeable amount more hip and shoulder room. A comfortable ride even full size adults, and luxurious in an L. L's have a little more headroom than SWB's too, both in the D2 and D3 (fractions of an inch). For tall people you may sit just a bit more upright if you want in an LWB which adds yet more to roominess impressions. All the extra length (5.1") is in the rear doors. If you look at a L compared to a SWB you may notice the roof looks a little more bowed on a SWB and a little flatter on an L. You definitely feel the 5" when you park it too...
