Derestricted or not, the closing speed was too high to be able to brake without impact if a slower car turned into the passing lane.
Be safe.

Videos like that are the ones that sometimes turn into YT classics when all goes awry!

Years ago, we were cavorting around Austria late @ night in an M5 (when the hot V8 versions first came out). I wasn't driving but 220 km/h started to feel like the new normal. Our CEO at the time, who was the BF of Melanie Piech, said he had a factory hopped-up prototype 928GTS doing 300 km/h. This PT928GTS was owned by Hans Mikel (sp?) Piech. Cool but crazy guy, and a partier.

Anyway I get back here and 5am, summer, looking at a wide open stretch I bent time and space, got up to around 230-240 km/h ish. The wind noise is huge, all that horsepower pushing air basically. Did the same in the Audi V8Q, and just smoked the brakes bringing it back down!

I wouldn't even think of doing that now. Impound and GO TO JAIL. Geez my son was speeding - not much over, and is still paying $$$ for it.

I've had the Challenger up to 260 km/h (before it was supercharged,) CTS-V up to 250 km/h, and neither produced more wind noise than a Corolla at half that speed. The IROC, however, has quite a bit approaching those speeds, although that one hasn't exceeded 240 km/h. The A8 at it's limited 210 km/h is still quiet as Grant's tomb.

As to your spelling, if it's the gentlemen I think you are referring to, it's spelled Hans Michel Piech.

Be safe.
Which is why it's safe on the autobahn, people there respect driving and don't f#*% around. If you are caught speeding in a restricted area, loose your license, cause an accident even if you don't get hit or hit anyone, loose your license.

Bingo!!!! I am as safe as can be on the roads and hate street racing or even "stretching my legs" when nobody is around. However Germany is a different animal and all the what ifs don't apply because they have been licensed not to. You can't look at it like doing 280kph on I80 through new York.

So how do you account for pinheaded tourists in their Prius's doing the 55 in the left lane?

Isn't it nice to plan to the highest common denominator rather then the lowest like we constantly have to do in the USA?
