I ran a search and read several threads but I did not see anything about the problem I am experiencing.

I've noticed that the first time I come to a stop after I begin driving the car, I hear an air compressor-like noise, and once I come to a complete stop, there is an air hissing noise, as if it's bleeding excess air out of the system. I am assuming it is the air suspension. The car does this a couple of more times throughout the drive, but not every time I come to a stop.

I'm afraid that this indicates there is a leak in one of the struts. Has anybody experienced this?

Yes, one of the air/shock units most likely. Fix soon or compressor may burn out and then cost another expensive part.

As MP4.2+6.0 said, this board has dozens of threads about the air suspension, air compressor and air struts. Use standard automotive troubleshooting techniques to find the problem. The follow the repair procedures in the sevice manual. Invest in the vcds diagnostic interface from Ross-Tech, service manual from Robert Bentley and, if necessary, automotive service classes. Otherwise, you may have to pay someone to repair the car for you.

Most likely the ABS pump. My car has an intermittent ABS sensor, so the ABS triggers more often. You hear the pump building brake pressure back up.
