Default Cupholder and ashtray dampers

After disassembling the cupholder and ashtray assemblies to look at the dampers that have broken, it occurred to me the main thing that dies are the little gear wheels. These are the same in parts all over the car. The little cost hooks in the roof and the 12v power socket in the trunk have these dampers.
So if you need a cheap relacement gear wheel, just buy a coat hook from eBay and it will clip into the ashtray and cupholder. Then they are good as new.

Good info!
My center armrests both need fixing. It's just vulgar the way they slam!

How much are the hooks? Lazy, yes

Good idea indeed. I fixed mine with some aluminum gears I purchased online, but it was a bit more work than just swapping them from a coat hook.

Tom, I believe you need quite different parts for your armrests.
