Default First trip in the snow with my S8

All I can say is wow. We got probably 3-4 inches overnight and it's starting to come down harder now with a possible rain mix later so I wanted to get the beast out to see what she could do.

All I can say is, WOW. This is my first Audi, but I was expecting a bit more drama than I found--and I'm running Conti DWS all seasons, not snow tires. This car handles snow as well or better than my truck does. Took several unplowed/fairly deep snow roads and unless I got really squirrelly with the throttle, it was planted and competent.

Found a train station parking lot that I know has no curbs and was wide open and I turned off the ESP and had some fun--you really need to drive aggressively to get it to slide and break, and even then it's incredibly controllable and poised. I would feel confident driving this car through anything up to 6-8 inches on the ground no problem.

Congratulations on the new car. I live in South Dakota and run Conti DWS all year-round. Winter driving has been drama free.

Good looking car! Love the color combo : )

Thanks! Good to know on the Contis as I would prefer not to have to swap out winter and summer setups.

Awesome!
Don't forget if the snow gets too deep, just go to the mmi, hit car/suspension and set it to lift, it will give you some additional ground clearance.

Default lost control!

We also got our first big snow in eastern pa. A Co worker put the car in the hanger to let her warm up before I got back to homebase.

I played a bit in the snow until my throttle got stuck open and wouldn't stop! As far as I could tell, the pedal was in its normal idle position but the car was still reving while I stood on the brakes. The car returned to normal about 3 seconds later. I tapped the gas again and it wanted to runaway again for another brief couple seconds. I stopped playing after that.

Leaving one cockpit for another.

Problem solved. It was the thick stock rubber floor mat. It was out of the plastic holders and sitting up too high.

That's unheard of and extremely dangerous. You should stop driving it before you find out what exactly happened and fix the problem. After making it public here you would have a big problem with insurance if anything happens because of that problem.

I thought this kind of failures are reserved for Toyota drivers.

I know, it definitely shocked me. Snap in your floor mats!
