Default floor mats coming loose

I was having an issue where the floor mats were coming loose from the anchors. Likely from being removed many times from cleaning. I bought new grommets from Audi. No more problem. Cost? About $10 for all 4 mats.

Thanks, my drivers mat came loose and got stuck under the accelerator. This was not a fun issue when the accelerator was stuck on.

Can you supply the Audi Part number?

Seems that the fix isn't long lasting. After a few days the mats came loose again. I am looking into a longer lasting solution. You aren't the only one to have the floor mat jam the accelerator wide open.

I am certain that Audi would be concerned about this issue. I am going to report it.

Would you drop a line to audicare@audi.com detailing your stuck throttle event? Please include your vin number and contact info. They will likely give you a case number. Please send me that case number so that we have some additional leverage to get this resolved.

I am pushing Audi to come up with a positive locking mechanism for the floor mats.

While I am all for a better solution, has anyone tried both new mats and anchors? This is a constant problem on my 2006 as well, and there are obvious risks around a stuck accelerator.

Are you guys using stock or genuine Audi mats? The stock ones on my '04 A8 and my '01 Beetle (Same anchor posts & Grommets) are still tight.

However, I have bought Lloyd mats (two sets) as the carpet is way nicer. The anchor clips they have on the back of the mats are not as good. New Lloyd mats even properly and tightly anchored one caused a stuck accelerator pedal. I shut the ignition down while firmly braking so no incident. I immediately cut a 4" x 4" section off of the top right of the mat. Same for when I bought the 2nd set.

No problem since. It has been about eight years now.

I found this diagram. It could prove useful.

I am thinking that either the 3D0 864 199 A B41 or the 3D0 864 851 B41 would prevent the mat from coming loose. The trick is finding out if the anchors will fit the A8.

Here is another good page.
