Default Brake light switch

Hi chaps,
I just changed my brake light switch as I had the ESP light coming back regularly a few times a week. So i changed the switch with an aftermarket switch but now the light has come back. I have since read that there maybe a certain procedure you need to follow like pushing the brake pedal down to set the plunger etc. Is this true or do I just need to get an original one from the dealer?

Thanks

OEM switch has an instruction sheet with the procedure, at least the three I have used had one. It superseded the procedure in the Bentley manual.

Have you ran vcds codes? A bad steering angle sensor also causes the same fault light.
