Halloween comes early
My first DIY task with my new, supposedly well cared for 2007 A8 came today when I changed the air filter to help eliminate one of the possible causes of a fault code i caught a few days ago via VCDS.
I engaged my bookish 10-year-old son in helping me with this simple but important piece of regular maintenance, that no one should pay a dealer to perform. I mentioned how the manual stresses keeping things clean - placing towels over intake, being careful to avoid getting any byproducts of the filter change into the MAF etc. The Audi manual points out how dirt introduced via intake can lead to major problems.
Then I got the housing apart and saw the AF element in this car. Scary.
